I guess the Swift Boat Veterans have really left a lingering bad taste in John Kerry's mouth. Upon questioning Sam Fox on the hearing for the Belgium ambassador post, Kerry wanted to know about the $50,000 Fox contributed to that group. Maybe Kerry will get some satisfaction, if he can keep Fox from this appointment. Maybe someone should quesiton the contributions that his wife's foundation gives to groups like ANSWER and other anti-American groups.

Kerry criticizes Fox at hearing for ambassador post
SAM HANANEL
Associated Press
WASHINGTON - A Senate hearing that began as a celebration of St. Louis businessman Sam Fox and his qualifications to be ambassador to Belgium turned bitterly divisive Tuesday after Fox was accused of supporting a controversial conservative group.
Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., grilled Fox about why he donated $50,000 to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth during the 2004 presidential race. The group of Vietnam veterans made unsubstantiated allegations against Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee, and charged that Kerry did not deserve the medals he received in the Vietnam War.
"Might I ask you what your opinion is with respect to the state of American politics as regards the politics of personal destruction?" Kerry asked near the end of Fox's hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Fox, one of the nation's most generous contributors to Republican candidates and causes, said he is concerned that politics "has become mean and destructive."
Fox said he didn't recall who asked him to give to Swift Boat Veterans and said both sides of the political debate contribute to groups known as 527s.
But Kerry said the incident raised questions about Fox's fitness to serve as an ambassador.
