Hate Crimes. If you commit a crime against a person of a different race, just because of their racial difference, you should get a larger punishment than if you committed the same crime against a person of your race. That's completely wrong.
Okay, I'm going to try to use an example. Let's say...an African-American rapes a Hispanic woman and an African-American woman. He is brought to trial somewhere where there is actually a law that says that people who commit hate crimes should be meted out a larger punishment than those who have a different motive (laying aside the fact that it's impossible to know for certain someones motive, without reading their mind). Are we to give him a larger punisment for raping the Hispanic woman than for raping the African-American woman? Is that not putting one human life at a greater value than another human life?
What happened to "all men (or as one poster insists "all PEOPLE") are created equal?"
This, to me, is outrageous.
