Char, so far as I'm concerned the Iraqis may have whatever type and form of government they prefer. Obviously what they have chosen at this point has very little to do with our chosen form of government.

Although the choice was hardly free, I do think that their constitution might serve them well if they had the desire to adhere to it.

It more closely resembles the British system than the American system.

Yeah, if the Labor and Conservative parties had militias, sub-factions that hated each other to the death, and never actually made decisions on anything that were enforceable.

Now those who are currently invading and trying to obstruct any government are backers of a theocracy. When the government of Iraq is able to stand on its own and protect itself from influence from a couple of its neighbors it will be time to leave.

As long as the United States is occupying Iraq against the wishes of a clear majority of its people, it will not be free or ready to stand on its own, and those who resist the Christian army of occupation will gain in stature. Why can't you admit this possibility? Rationally, the Iraqis should have welcomed our help and cooperated. The Bush administration did not want to harm ordinary Iraqis; it just was inept at helping them. But the Iraqi people, outside of Kurdistan, resented the occupation more and more as it dragged on, and resistance grew. It isn't rational, it's a visceral reaction to occupation. Americans would react the same way. We blew it by staying on in a misguided attempt to force the Iraqis to do what was good for them. And every year has been worse than the previous one. It isn't a matter of figuring out the magic set of tactics that will defeat the bad guys, or killing them all by brute force. Look at that battle concluded yesterday in which about 300 Iraqis presumed to be the enemy were killed. They were in something called the "Soldiers of Heaven", a group that we had never even heard of before. Obviously, resistance groups are sprouting up very fast. There are insurgents loyal to the dead dictator, members of al-Qaeda in Iraq who hated Saddam, various Shi'ite militias, and hundreds of freelance guerilla groups and organized criminal gangs. All of them feel free to take potshots at Americans and they're cheered for it and gain recruits thereby. It's stupid, but it's a natural human reaction to foreign occupation, especially when you add the poisonous influence of religion.

Now would yu be so kind as to answer my question?

What question? I already refuted the premise to the "bad guys" question you posed. Do you have another?
