Everyone loves a winner, and no one wants a loser. If we left Iraq in that manner exactly who would be the winner? Well, it wouldn't be us and it wouldn't be the government of Iraq. The winners would be the ASP and their friends in al Qaida--along with Iran and Syria. We should also note that you properly referenced the terrorists and various allied foreign contingents--"the bad guys". Now please explain why you want the "bad guys" to win.

Duke, the US has won the war against Saddam. It is losing the war against the Iraqi resistance. It was wrong and stupid to have insisted on occupying the place. There is no way that we can impose our will on the Iraqis. Given that we are not going to succeed in this aim, to support the continued attempt is to want more dead Americans and Iraqis to no purpose. I don't "want" the bad guys to win, but they will whether either of us wants it or not. The only question is how long it will take.

VX, if Bush chooses to leave US troops in Iraq after Congress directs him to use the remaining funds to get them out, it will be his responsibility if many of them die. In the Bizarro world that conservatives inhabit, attempting to save American lives is considered the opposite, while wanting them to keep engaging resistance movements in futile opposition to the will of the populace is considered supporting the troops. Why do you want our troops to die, VX? It's just weird. Bring them home.
