char: “Iowan, you brought this subject up. If you had examples of my prior outrage about Republicans and Republicans only throwing out godspeak for the rubes, you would have cited them.”
My bringing it up entailed a tongue-in-cheek bit of hyperbole. Being humor, it's not surprising that it sailed over your head. Are you really unaware of some of your fellow leftists who were absolutely certain that Bush (and the religious right who by and large supported him) was intent on setting up some sort of theocracy?
If you had examples of your prior expressions of even discomfort about any Democrat, especially Obama, throwing out gospeak for the rubes (How very Gruber of you! Thank God (uh, pardon the expression) us rubes have such enlightened philosopher kings as you and Obama to care for our poor misguided souls and feather your own nests at the same time), you’d have posted them.
char: “I've always been consistent: it's not a good idea, it reflects poorly on the speaker, the listener, and the US, and I don't like it--no matter who does it. None of these clowns was elected Preacher-in-Chief.”
Oh, but you DO like it or at least tolerate it, especially if itis Obama and if it ‘frosts’ people on the other side of the political aisle. You’ve already admitted that. And you’ve defended and appluaded Obama’s throwing out godspeak to the rubes as a positive case of excellence in communication.
char: “You're the guy doing the flip-out here, and it came from nowhere.”
You need to get out more often.
char: “Maybe you're jealous that Obama is doing your schtick better than you. Take notes.”
Or maybe not. I've already explained why I don't agree with your view that Obama is the most gifted speaker to ever occupy the White House. Sure, you swoon when his pie hole opens and his pearls of great wisdom, laced with the words of the voices talking inside the heads of religious figures past, pour forth like honey from the comb.
What is clear is that you, despite the fact that it’s not a good idea, doesn’t speak well of the speaker (Obama), his listeners, and the United States as a whole, have already defended his invocation of the words of God (via the voice in Moses’ head) as a prime example great communication skills.
char: “I guess you're going to continue to avoid the issue of the difference between rhetoric and actual "God told me to do it" decisionmaking.”
Not only have I not avoided it, I have addressed it extensively. I know you don’t agree with me. Notwithstanding your belief to the contrary, ‘disagreeing with char’ ≠ ‘avoiding the issue’.
char: “Too bad we missed out on Mormon preaching from the bully pulpit. That might have been at least interesting.”
Yeah, no doubt you're really heart-broken about Romney's loss. So eager were you to not miss out on Mormon preaching that you voted for the uninteresting Moses-channeling Obama. You voting for Romney falls into the category of ‘virtual impossibility’.
