I doubt that most Americans have a problem with this very sensible prioritization of immigration enforcement."
If your doubts are well-founded, then supporters of the Obama's amnesty should easily be able to make the case to BOTH legislative branches to pass laws to effect their preferences. No one questions that the administration has the right to prioritize the expenditures of limited resources in prosecuting lawbreakers. But Obama doesn't stop there.
He promised to people who are here illegally that they will be legalized to work by granting them work permits. This isn't deciding who to deport. It's a usurping of the law. This is not a case of passively refraining from pursuing certain illegal immigrants. It is a case actively affording to illegal immigrants blanket rights, privileges, and benefits for which there exists no legislative authority. That is, Obama is not decreeing that he will refrain from going after illegal immigrants who are illegally employed (or that he will refrain from going after employers who illegally hire illegal immigrants). He has stated that he will be actively issuing legal work permits to illegal immigrants. That has nothing to do with prioritizing enforement.
Further, he promised to strengthen the border. The House passed a border protection bill in April. Reid sat on it and Obama promised to veto it anyway.

He limited the scope of his amnesty to those illegal immigrants who have been here at least five years (apparently, Obama's in favor of permitting SOME families to be ripped apart, even if it would adversely affect char's soccer players). Left unanswered is, how will illegal immigrants be able to document that they have been here five years without exposing themselves and/or those who have illegally employed them from prosecution?
Obama promises that illegal immigrants will have to pass a background check. He promised the same when he issues his earlier imperial decree granting legal status to teenage immigrants here illegally. Judicial Watch has found that this is not the case in practice. In fact, if Obama can cite prosecutorial discretion for suspending deportations, then wouldn't that serve as the same basis for his suspending background checks? This isn't even a hypothetical query. The administration is already engaged in such a suspension of the rules.
As to the idea that illegal immigrants are 'law-abiding', if that's the case, then there would be no need for them to, in Obama's own words, 'get right with the law'. In fact, again, according to Judicial Watch, the Obama administration has released tens of thousands of illegals (as in, failed to deport) convicted of serious crimes.

It's already an established fact that your objection to expressions of religion by politicians is one of your many unprincipled 'stances', applicable only to Republicans politicians. However, I suppose it is possible that I'm mistaken here. It's certainly possible that the reason you break out in a rash whenever a Republican mentions God and yawn when a Democrat does is that you are pretty certain Democrats don't really mean it and that Republicans do. Who knows?
But from one principle you have never wavered, char: When it comes to governance (and pretty much everything else), the end justifies the means.
