VX, the Senate passed an immigration bill, with enough Republican support to get 68 votes. Boehner refused to allow it to go to the House floor, because he knew it would pass with bipartisan support. His problem was that conservative Republicans didn't want that bill to pass, and he wants to keep his Majority Leader post. Please get your facts straight. In this case, it was not Harry Reid who was the problem.

It's not often that VX sounds more reasonable than Iowan. The latter seems to be apoplectic about this. I doubt that most Americans have a problem with this very sensible prioritization of immigration enforcement. I have seen (in the youth soccer program I help run) the kids that would be adversely affected by deporting their parents. They are as American as any of us. They're wholly committed to this country, as are their parents. VX has it right: the immigrants themselves are, on average, at least as hard-working and law-abiding as native-born citizens. We can't deport more than 400,000 a year. Obama is deporting more than Bush did. Let's be smart and compassionate about which 400,000. Or are those qualities you oppose?

Yes, Obama panders to the God Squad. I don't have to like it, and I wasn't consulted. It seems to frost Iowan more to have been out-Bibled by Obama, though, so now I feel better about it. Maybe I'll start quoting bronze age shamans too if it gets that reaction.
