I can blame bush for some of it, like the huge 3.6 trillion dollars that will eventually cost us for the war. Second, for failure to take actions here at home instead of running the world.

I blame it on the government, easy credit, bad bankrupsy laws, government bloat.

We need to go to volunatary taxation for a while. 50 broad categories on our tax return, and we say as an individual taxes go. Same for the state. Get rid of the republic, and go to a true democracy.

International aid, see just how many want to give and how much.

The military, how much

The roads, infastructure, how much

I would even like to see a non binding vote of how much taxation should be allowed, and where the people thought the money should go.

You could only spend the money you paid in taxes. Those with no income, cannot say where their non-existant taxes will go.

so if you volunteer (or are forced to pay) $10,000 in taxes, you also say where it will go.

If you pay $1,000,000, you also say where it will go.

No one is allowed to allocate your money paid, but you. 50 broad categories should be enough. National defence, roads, infrstructure, medicine, welfare, research, war, space exploration, national endowments, Schools (local), Schools (advanced), so on and so forth.

And if you do not, say, donate to social security, you don;t get to draw from it either.

I also feel that if you designate, you will become more involved where the money goes AND HOW IT IS SPENT!

And finally, except in a war where we are attacked, NO CREDIT. IF the government does not have it in hand, it cannot spend it.

Just a start of a few ideas to fix our problem before it becomes a disaster.
