Of the several idioms under which the word "trial" can be used, it is not necessarily incorrectly used in Impeachment Trial. But, under the formal understanding of the word "trial" it is the Court System that conducts them. A "trial" conducted by the Senate would be more appropriately called a Hearing.

And, Booger, though I understand what you're getting at, there was never a formal court trial on the perjury charge. Clinton agreed to a five year suspension of his law license as a means to end an independent council investigation (again under the auspices of Congress) and was fined under a contempt of court charge stemming from the Paula Jones trial.
