All in all, a pretty lousy couple of days for the Department of Hope and Change.

Social Security begins its perpetual run of annual deficits THIS year, according to the CBO.

Initial unemployment claims for the week ending January 22 jumped 51,000 from the previous week's number, up to 454,000 from 413,000.

Foreclosures continue to rise in most major metropolitan areas.

And the 2011 annual deficit number is now projected to be $1,500,000,000,000. Although CBO projects the deficits to be lower in future years, its report notes that its projections are based on the assumption that tax and spend policies will unfold per current law.
